Winter is coming – which to me means it is time to layer up and bring back the faux furs and leathers.
As soon as the weather cooled, I began intermingling these pieces back into my work wardrobe. When I walked into The Social’s studio with my giant fur Aritzia vest on, Kwame, the floor director, joked that I was looking like the King in the North. The following day I wore a black fur jacket and he asked me how the Nights Watch was treating me. Soon enough, the Game of Thrones references were being thrown around non-stop by the entire studio crew and I was asked when I would be dressing as a Wildling – to this I responded, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
For a full work week I used Game of Thrones to inspire my outfits throwing in one additional look just because I couldn’t not pay homage to the Mother of Dragons. So channelling the kings, the queens, the knights, and the renegades I bring to you six different cold weather looks inspired by Game of Thrones.

THE NIGHT’S WATCH
The Night’s Watch is typically clad in all black, in essence paralleling the darkness of the night. The furs, armours, and leathers they are adorned in are all of the darker variety so to channel this I wore black leather leggings, a black shorter style faux fur jacket, a black body suit with a criss-cross design up front to parallel their cape’s leather cross bands, and black leather boots.
The Wildlings spend majority of their time in the snowy regions. Consequently their best camouflage is of the lighter variety, meaning those creamy beiges, whites and greys. I layered up my cream leather jacket, my suede vest, and a faux fur scarf on top of a cream body suit, dark grey jeans, and cream heels to achieve the essence of this style.
The Lannisters are typically clad in reds, maroons, burnt oranges, and dark brown leathers. To embody House Lannister I wore a dark brown leather jacket with a fur collar, a burnt orange plunging bodysuit, brown pants, and cream heels.
Much like the Night’s Watch, House Stark favours the darker shades in their attire. From black furs to brown leathers, the Starks keep it dark in their layers. For this look I brought out the black leather jacket, a black faux fur vest, black leather pants, and black heels.
THE KING IN THE NORTH
As Jon Snow evolves so does his fashion. He moved away from all black amour of the Night’s Watch and brings into the mix some lighter coloured furs. As the King in the North he intermingles all shades of brown, both light and dark in their nature. To achieve this concept I wore a faux fur vest which has a variety of brown tones in it, a dark long sleeve shirt, dark jeans, and cream heels.
MOTHER OF DRAGONS
Daenerys Targaryen, also referred to as Khalessi, is hands down one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. I would be remiss if I didn’t tribute a look to the Mother of Dragons who is typically dressed in lighter colours – when she isn’t nude. To play on this, I wore a nude slip under a large pink fur coat and gold heels.
